Cultivating Resonance

Embracing the WE in

Child & Play Therapy

Effective play therapy requires much from the clinician. The tremendous responsibility of maintaining a relational stance during quiet and dynamic play moments offers challenges that can be difficult to articulate. Additionally, play therapists must remain relationally open to parents of clients in order to offer hope and facilitate systemic change. This series of brief online trainings will highlight how the relational neurosciences discuss resonance in a manner that allows play therapists to stay in an active “we” mindset during play therapy sessions and parent engagement opportunities.

This webinar series will feature Robyn Gobbel, LCSW, LMSW, RPT-S and Marshall Lyles, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S- colleagues and friends who have discovered joy and delight in their combined love for play therapy and the relational neurosciences.  Though they have known each other for at least five years, Robyn and Marshall only first started teaching together in March of 2018. Jumping in blindly and not knowing how it would turn out, they immediately discovered that as a teaching team they authentically co-created the resonance they hope their students will discover, embody, cultivate, and grow.  Robyn and Marshall have way too much fun teaching together, and their students report this greatly enhances their learning (and the relational neurosciences helps us understand WHY this enhances learning!!).

Together Marshall and Robyn have created a webinar-based conversation about cultivating resonance in the play therapy room, understanding that it is the WE of therapy that supports the integration and well-being our clients are seeking.

This webinar series seriously blew my expectations out of the water. I have a skeptical part that wondered if I would learn anything new, but I felt so grateful that I decided to sign up. The way you and Marshall spoke and taught resonated with so many parts of me, and your presence (it's no wonder you speak and teach on presence--you really DO embody it!) came through via the webinar, which is really wild. Maybe it has to do with neuroception, but something that sometimes happens to me during trainings in which the trainer presents with such empathy and authenticity is that I get emotional (even if not related to the material), and that is something I experienced again. Your warmth comes through so clearly, and I look forward to future opportunities to learn from you.
