If you are here, you are brave.
Maybe you are searching the internet and landed here. Maybe your friend or partner or mother or brother sent you here. Maybe you really want therapy for your child but clicked here out of curiosity.
If you are considering therapy, then some part of you remains hopeful.
You may not know that part of you, but that part is there. You intuitively move toward coherence. We all do. Coherence exists. It’s waiting. It’s actually already there.
But I’m a child therapist, right? I play games, sing songs, and spend an unusual part of my day tossing balloons. I’ve found that this part of me- this part that really knows children who are hurting- is what helps me be just the therapist you need. It’s not your adult self that brings you here. It’s your child self, your hurting self, your resilient self that knows you can feel better.
I will meet you exactly where you are, because that is the only place you’ll be.
That really scary place you don’t know if you can go? I’ll go with you. When you are with me, you will not be alone. Relationships are messy. Therapy is messy. There is joy and sorry. Grief so profound that it feels like there is no air left to breathe. I will go there. I am not afraid. You are brave.
The space between your heart and mine is the space we'll fill with time. ~DMB
